INTRODUCTION
This protocol describes a method for concentrating either freshwater or marine hypotrichs for refeeding or analysis. A concentrating apparatus is constructed using a plastic "snap-close" container fitted with a Nitex filter of appropriate pore size.
MATERIALS
Reagents
Culture medium
Hypotrich culture to be concentrated
Equipment
Cheesecloth (Optional, see Step 4)
Collection tray (dishpan or other tray larger than plastic box to be converted to frame)
Nitex filter (Tetco), 45-55
