Grape/apple juice agar plates

25-30 g agar

20 ml ethanol (95%)

300 ml juice concentrate (grape, apple, or other)

0.5 g methyl paraben (p-hydroxymethylbenzoate)

1. Autoclave the agar with 700 ml of H2O for 40 minutes. This is Solution A.

2. Add ethanol to a vial containing methyl paraben. Add the solution of methyl paraben to the apple/grape juice concentrate. This is Solution B.

3. Add Solution B to Solution A and begin pouring; do this quickly so that the mixture will not harden in the pouring container.
