BSA

For a 10% stock solution, dissolve 1 g of powdered Fraction V BSA in 10 mL of H₂O. To avoid clumping, dissolve by layering the powder onto the liquid surface and do not stir. Store frozen at −20°C.

For a 10 mg/mL stock solution, add 100 mg of BSA (Fraction V or molecular biology grade, DNase-free) to a 15-mL polypropylene tube containing 9.5 mL of H₂O. Gently rock the capped tube until the BSA is completely dissolved. Do not vortex. Adjust the final volume to 10 mL with H₂O. Divide into aliquots and store at −20°C. In general, this solution is not sterilized.
