MgCl2 (Magnesium chloride)
To prepare 1 L of 1 M MgCl2, dissolve 203.3 g of MgCl2•6H2O in 800 mL H2O. Adjust the volume to 1 L using H2O. Dispense into aliquots and sterilize by autoclaving.
Note: MgCl2 is extremely hygroscopic. Buy small bottles and do not store opened bottles for long periods of time. Once the crystals become saturated with H2O, dispose of the chemical properly.
