CAT lysis buffer
Use if lysing the cells with detergent (please see Step 4).
The same lysis buffer can also be used to prepare cell extracts for measurements of β-galactosidase activity (please see Protocol 7).
Note:
Use a highly purified preparation of Triton X-100 in the cell lysis buffer. Lower-grade detergent samples can inhibit CAT enzyme activity. The detergent Nonidet P-40 at 0.125% (v/v) can be substituted for Triton X-100 in the lysis buffer.
