MS medium

| 1X MS salts | 4.33 g |
| Bacto Agar | 7 g |
| H2O | to make 1 liter |
| Combine MS salts and water, and stir to dissolve. Adjust pH to 5.7 with KOH. Add agar. Sterilize by autoclaving. Plants grow more quickly in MS containing 1% (w/v) sucrose, but so do microorganisms; including sucrose in the medium significantly increases the chance of microbial contamination. | |
