Imaging Mouse Embryos after Whole-Mount In Situ Hybridization
This protocol was adapted from “Techniques for Visualizing Gene Products, Cells, Tissues, and Organ Systems,” Chapter 16, in Manipulating the Mouse Embryo, 3rd edition, by Andras Nagy, Marina Gertsenstein, Kristina Vintersten, and Richard Behringer. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press, Cold Spring Harbor, NY, USA, 2003.INTRODUCTION
Embryos that are processed for whole-mount in situ hybridization can be photodocumented after the staining procedure depending on the region of the embryo of interest. The embryos can be photodocumented immediately after the color reaction or after clearing in glycerol solutions. This protocol describes methods for embryo clearing and imaging.
