Seawater (filter-sterilized)
Dissolve sufficient sea salt mixture (Tropic Marin) in H2O to result in a specific gravity of 1.018-1.022, as measured by a hydrometer. Large volumes of seawater can be prepared in plastic garbage cans. Smaller volumes can be removed and filter-sterilized (22-μm) for use with embryos. While mixing the sea salt mixture with tap water can be used for some aquarium animals, preparing it with deionized H2O provides more consistent results and is highly recommended.
