INTRODUCTION

This protocol describes a procedure for the dissection of larval and pupal wings from the African butterfly Bicyclus anynana. Dissected pupal wings can be used subsequently for in situ hybridization or for immunohistochemistry. They can also be analyzed with stereomicroscopy to study scale maturation and pigment deposition.
