Blocking Solution for Drosophila CNS

1× phosphate-buffered saline (PBS)

0.1% Triton ×-100

0.5% bovine serum albumin

5% normal serum

1 mm sodium azide

Match the donor species of the serum with that of the host of the secondary detection antibody. Add azide to the blocking solution to prevent bacterial growth during steps where the antibody is incubated with the central nervous system (CNS) tissue for prolonged periods.
