X-Gal Staining Solution for CNS

10 mm sodium phosphate buffer, pH 7.2

150 mm NaCl

1 mm MgCl₂

10 mm K₄[Fe^II(CN)₆]

10 mm K₃[Fe^III(CN)₆]

0.1% Triton X-100

Store in the dark as 5–10-mL aliquots at −20°C. If background β-galactosidase activity must be kept to a minimum, use a higher pH (e.g., pH 7.8).
