It has come to our attention that the storage instructions for CC2-DMPE given on the Voltage Sensor Probes User Guide (Invitrogen,
O-13058-r1), and repeated in this protocol, are not correct. Both aliquoting and freeze-thaw cycles are potentially damaging
to CC2-DMPE because either can lead to the introduction of water, a contaminant that will cause the signal to degrade
very quickly. Therefore, we now strongly recommend the following:
1. When working with CC2-DMPE stock solution, that is, when first adding DMSO, when making aliquots, or when pipetting some
from the bottle, work in as dry a locale as possible, for example a fume hood.
2. When adding DMSO to the dry chemical, use DMSO that you can be absolutely sure is completely dry.
3. Store CC2-DMPE stock under a vacuum at -20 degrees C.
