A DsRedExpress-transfected hippocampal pyramidal neuron in slice culture. In this issue, Weimer et al. (doi: 10.1101/pdb.prot070029) present a method for studying synaptic protein dynamics in dendritic spines of the rodent cerebral cortex using photoactivatable green fluorescent protein.
