Series of confocal time-lapse images of Arabidopsis root tip cells expressing the Ca2+ probe Yellow Cameleon 3.6 (YC3.6) in the cytosol. The Ca2+ signal is propagated as a wave from the external cells to the internal cells after ATP treatment. The cytoplasmic calcium concentration ([Ca2+]cyt) rise is measured as FRET change and is presented in false color (green to red). In this issue, Jörg Kudla and colleagues describe how to analyze Ca2+ dynamics in vivo in plants using Yellow Cameleon Ca2+ indicators (doi: 10.1101/pdb.top066183). Image courtesy of Alex Costa.
