Extracellular Solution

Reagent Final concentration
NaCl 120 mm
KCl  4 mm
CaCl2  2 mm
MgCl2  2 mm
HEPES  10 mm
d-Glucose  10 mm
To block endogenous potassium channels, substitute 20 mm NaCl with 20 mm tetraethylammonium chloride (TEA·Cl) so that the solution contains 100 mm NaCl and 20 mm TEA·Cl.
Adjust pH to 7.4 with NaOH. Make fresh on the day of use. Store at room temperature during the day of use.
