Recipe

Citrate–Phosphate Buffer (500 mm, pH 5.6)

Na2HPO4 (anhydrous)  71 g
Citric acid 115 g
Dissolve in 1 liter of distilled water. (The final concentration of Na2HPO4 is 500 mm.) Adjust to pH 5.6 with 5 m NaOH. Sterilize by autoclaving. Store up to 6 mo at room temperature unless contamination is observed.
