ELISA Blocking Buffer
Bovine serum albumin (BSA; 1.0%)
Phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) <R>
Tween 20 (0.1%)
5% Non-fat powdered milk or whey protein isolate can be used in place of BSA to block any portion of the ELISA plate well that is not coated by the capture antibody. Higher background can occur when non-fat powdered milk is the blocking agent. In these cases, switching to BSA might improve background signal.
