3,3′,5-Triiodo-L-Thyronine Sodium Salt Solution (T3; 5 nm)

  • 1. Make a 0.01 m stock solution of T3 by adding 100 mg of T3 powder (Sigma-Aldrich; CAS 55-06-1) to 14.86 mL of 30% NaOH (prepared in Milli-Q [ultrapure] water). Vortex the 0.01 m stock solution well, aliquot, and store at −20°C.

  • 2. Make a 0.0001 m intermediate solution of T3 fresh every day by adding 5 µL of 0.01 m stock solution of T3 to 495 µL of Evian water (use Evian water in a 75 cL glass bottle or another mineral water with reproducible quality).

    • Be careful that neither precipitate nor crystals are present in the T3 stock solution.

  • 3. Add 5 µL of 0.0001 m T3 to 100 mL of Evian water to create a final 5 nm T3 solution.
