Frog Ringer

Reagent Amount (per L) Final concentration
NaCl 5.727 g 98 mmol/L
KCl 0.149 g  2 mmol/L
CaCl2 dihydrate 0.147 g  1 mmol/L
MgCl2 hexahydrate 0.407 g  2 mmol/L
d-glucose 0.900 g  5 mmol/L
Sodium pyruvate 0.550 g  5 mmol/L
Hydroxyethyl piperazineethanesulfonic acid (HEPES) 2.383 g 10 mmol/L
Prepare in distilled H2O. Adjust the pH to 7.8 and confirm that the osmolarity is 230 mOsmol/L. Store for 1–2 wk at 4°C.
