CTAB–NaCl Solution

  1. Wearing gloves, dissolve 4.1 g NaCl in 80 mL of H2O.

  2. Slowly add 10 g of CTAB (hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide) while heating and stirring.

    • If necessary, heat to 65°C to dissolve.

  3. Adjust the final volume to 100 mL for final concentrations of 10% CTAB and 0.7 m NaCl.

  4. Store at room temperature.

    • The solution is stable for several months.
