Modified Barth's Solution (MBS) (pH 7.4)

Reagent Final concentration (1×)
NaCl 88 mm
KCl 1 mm
NaHCO3 2.4 mm
MgSO4·7H2O 0.82 mm
Ca(NO3)2·4H2O 0.33 mm
CaCl2·2H2O 0.41 mm
HEPES 5 mm
  • Adjust the pH to 7.4 with NaOH; 3× stocks of MBS are pH-stable and can be stored at 4°C. Prepare a working solution (1/3×) by dilution.
