Potassium Dichromate with Glutaraldehyde and Sucrose

  • 1. Prepare a 2.5% solution of potassium dichromate using the highest possible grade (>99%).

  • 2. Mix the 2.5% potassium dichromate solution with 25% glutaraldehyde (Grade I, 25% in H2O, specially purified for use as an electron microscopy fixative) at a ratio of 5:1 (2.5% potassium dichromate:25% glutaraldehyde).

  • 3. Add 1.3 g of sucrose/100 mL of the potassium dichromate-glutaraldehyde solution.

Store for up to 6 mo at 4°C.
