Neutral Red Counterstain

• 1. Dissolve 1 g of Neutral red in 100 mL distilled H₂O. Filter using general purpose filter papers (grade 601) and store for up to 1 yr at 4°C.

• 2. Add four volumes of acetate buffer to 100 volumes of the 1% neutral red solution.

  Store for up to 6 mo at room temperature. This staining solution can be reused 15 times.
