Tryptose Blood Agar Base (TBAB) Plates

  • 1. Mix 40 g of blood agar base (Merck 1.10886.0500) with 1 L of deionized H2O.

  • 2. Autoclave at 15 PSI for 15 min at 121°C.

  • 3. (Optional) Cool to 50°C, and then add antibiotics as needed. Swirl the bottle to ensure even distribution of the antibiotics throughout the agar.

  • 4. Aliquot into Petri dishes.

    • Store upside-down for up to weeks at 4°C, preferably in the dark because of light sensitivity of antibiotics.
