Egg-Collection Apple Juice Agar Plates

| Apple juice (100%) | 333 mL |
| Double-distilled H2O | 1000 mL |
| Methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate | 2 g |
| Sucrose | 30 g |

1. In a flask, microwave 30 g of agar and 1 L of double-distilled H2O until the agar is completely dissolved. Remove the solution from the microwave and cool to 60°C.

2. Mix sucrose, apple juice, and methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate in another flask, and bring it to a boil in a microwave oven.

3. Carefully combine the solutions, stir well, and pour 10 mL into 60-mm polystyrene Petri dishes. Let the agar completely solidify, and store at 4°C in sealed bags to prevent desiccation. Plates will stay fresh for 2 mo stored at 4°C.
