Purchase a high grade of DMSO (HPLC grade or better).

For a 2x solution:

60% ES-DMEM (containing 15% fetal bovine serum [FBS])

20% FBS

20% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)

Prepare fresh; cool on ice.
