Extraction buffer

8 M urea

Use ultrapure urea (e.g., ICN Biomedicals). Urea solutions should be freshly deionized using analytical-grade mixed bed resin, AG 501-X8 (D) from Bio-Rad.

50 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.4)

5 mM EGTA

0.2% 2-mercaptoethanol

1 mM phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride (PMSF)
