Combine MS salts and H2O, and stir to dissolve. Adjust pH to 5.7 with KOH. Add agar. Sterilize by autoclaving. Plants grow more quickly in MS containing 1% (w/v) sucrose, but so do microorganisms: Including sucrose in the medium significantly increases the chance of microbial contamination.
