HBS (HEPES-buffered saline) for adenovirus

21 mM HEPES

137 mM NaCl

5 mM KCl

0.7 mM Na₂HPO₄

5.5 mM glucose

Adjust pH to 7.1 with NaOH and sterilize by filtration though a 0.2-μm filter. Store aliquots in tightly sealed conical tubes at 4°C. The pH of HBS is critical for efficient transfection.
