Formaldehyde for Drosophila immunofluorescence

NaOH (1 N)

Paraformaldehyde

In a large glass tube, add 1.85 g of paraformaldehyde and 80 µL of NaOH to 3.5 mL of H2O. Heat a beaker full of water to boiling in a microwave oven. Remove from the microwave. Incubate the tube in the beaker, with occasional mixing, until the formaldehyde dissolves (∼5 min). Filter the solution using a 0.22-μm syringe filter. Use immediately after the solution cools to room temperature.
