Potassium Dichromate with Osmium Tetroxide

  • 1. Prepare a 2.5% solution of potassium dichromate using the highest possible grade (>99%).

  • 2. Mix the 2.5% potassium dichromate solution with 1% osmium tetroxide (suitable for electron microscopy) at a ratio of 99:1 (2.5% potassium dichromate:1% osmium tetroxide).

    • Never open osmium tetroxide (or an osmium admixer) outside of the fume hood.

Store for up to 12 mo at 4°C.
