Saturated Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) Solution in 45% (v/v) Ethanol

• 1. Prepare 100 mL of 45% (v/v) ethanol by mixing 45 mL of absolute (>99.8%) ethanol (VWR 20821.33) with 55 mL of autoclaved H₂O.

• 2. Add several SDS tablets (Sigma-Aldrich 74255) and stir for several minutes until dissolved.

• 3. Once dissolved, add additional SDS tablets and continue stirring at room temperature. Continue this process until the tablets no longer dissolve, even after stirring the solution for several hours or overnight at room temperature.

• 4. Let excess SDS settle and use the cleared saturated SDS solution. Store for up to several months at room temperature.
